Application definition
An application (sometimes referred to as "app") is a kind a computer program, or software, which enables a user to utilize the computer's resource to perform specific tasks such as data processing, writing, editing or presenting media and even other software. "Apps" often refer to any kind of program (including games) typically on smart phones, TV's and some tablets, but also desktop PC's and servers. However the use of the term "app" is more informal and technically there's little difference between an actual "app" and other programs.
