Gigabyte

Gigabyte definition

A "gigabyte" (gB) is 1,000,000,000 bytes, or sometimes 1,073,741,824 even though the latter is known as a "gibibyte" (GiB or GB), as the "giga" technically means "billion". The "GB", "GiB" and "gB" are also sometimes confused, as is "gigabit" (gb or Gb) which is a billion bits - one eighth of a gigabyte. A gigabyte is 1,000 megabytes, whereas a gibibyte is 1,024 mibibytes.
