Linux definition

Linux is a family of Operating Systems, using the Linux kernels which manages the computer's hardware resources and provides a software environment for the rest of the OS and other programs. The kernel is named as such because they are Unix-like and authored by Linus Torvalds. Unlike some OS's (such as Windows) it is free and open-source, yet efficient, flexible and just as capable, making it a popular choice for many systems such as servers and smartphones. It's also very common in routers and network switches and other smart devices.

Popular OS's which is Linux-based include Android and Ubuntu.
