Package
Package definition
In computer hardware, "package" typically refers to an enclosed microprocessor or extension card module. A CPU chip for example is usually embedded onto it's own small circuit board complete with other components and contacts for the main board. Such packages are either soldered down (if not intended to be added or removed by the end user) or plugged in to a connective slot or socket. "Package size" usually refers to the total dimensions of the module; the maximum height, depth and length.
