Code (data)

Code (information) definition

Code in context of information presentation in IT (not encryption) typically refers to two things:

1. Data/information represented in a more human friendly format, but not written as literally, such as hexadecimal (base-16 alphanumerical digits) or ASCII (basic and outdated text format).

2. Passcodes, keys and identifiers, which may display as ambiguous or random texts that uniquely refer to or grant access to records, systems or services.
